Ever call "do overs" as a kid when you messed something up? Well, I am calling "do overs" on this blog article. Some of the links did not work in the first edition.

San Diego is known as a Navy town. Now while several in my family have served in the Navy, I never realized that I too could be employed by the Navy until a recent Navy hospital chaplain job announcement came my way.

While I did not have all of the qualifications they desired for this particular Navy chaplain position at a nearby Navy hospital facility (they wanted a board certified chaplain with a MFT degree (Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy), I did learn a boatload of information regarding civilian employment within the ranks of the Navy.

I discovereth that those who have set their sails for US Navy civilian employment enjoy an exciting civilian career with the Department of the Navy. As US Navy civilian personnel they have discovered challenging careers performing Navy civilian jobs.

I also found out that over 190,000 civilians are employed in a wide variety of occupations in support of the Department's mission.

My challenge to those considering a career change with purpose, was to see if a Navy civilian career may offer just what you want in your new career choice.

I even encouraged my daughter, who recently moved to San Diego, to consider US Navy civilian employment.

As I said, I first learned about the possibilities for US Navy civilian employment from a Navy Chaplain. He had sent an email detailing a Navy civilian chaplain opportunity at Camp Pendleton.
